Healing The Spirit: Astrology, Archetypes & Artmaking

10. Mallory Dowd: Love Notes to Capricorn

Episode Summary

How can we re-frame the Capricorn archetype outside patriarchy, coloniality, and capitalism? How can we deepen our love for the Capricorn within us and around us?

Episode Notes

In today’s episode, I had a conversation with my friend Mallory Dowd. Mallory and I discussed the archetype of Capricorn - which we both feel can be quite misunderstood, or perhaps is up for a re-thinking, re-visioning, re-defining. We spoke to how Capricorn can be understood beyond the confines of our patriarchal, colonial, capitalistic framework as The Artist, The Mystic, The Ritualist, The Crone. Mallory also shared her beautiful love notes to Capricorn, some thoughts around how to work with the Capricorn energy when we feel like there’s too much of it in our system, and how Capricorn is personally meaningful to her when seen through the lens of her lineage.

As Virgo risings, Mallory and I both have Capricorn ruling the 5th house of joy, creativity, pleasure, and self-expression in our birth charts. This conversation serves both as a devotional prayer and a critical study of Capricorn through the lens of our lived experiences and the infinite possibilities this archetype holds.

Here's Mallory's bio:
